Second training meetings completed in the scope of PROMOTING WORKERS RIGHT INCLUDUNG SYRIAN REFUGEES IN TEXTILE,GARMENT AND LEATHER SECTOR runed by our union, our confederation (DISK) and the sister union 3F (United Workers Federation) from Denmark.
The training meetings organized within the scope of the project supported by the European Commission were held in Istanbul on 12-13 November 2021 under the title of Strategic Structuring and Policy Development.
Jensen Nielsen, the International Relations Director of our project partner 3F, attended the training meetings and made a comparative evaluation of the practices in Denmark and Turkey within the framework of the needs determined as a result of the analysis surveys made among our members.
DİSK Board Member and President of our union Kazım Doğan, DİSK Board Member and Gıda-İş Chairman Seyit Aslan, Tümka-İş Chairman Muammer Çiftçiler, our union’s Deputy Chairman M. Ali Başak, General Secretary Celal Aslan, General Board Members Yaşar Günay and Savaş Testici, President of Bursa Branch İncigül Şentürk, President of Merter Branch Asalettin Arslanoğlu, branch board members and workplace union representatives attended the meeting in Istanbul.
In the first part of the meeting, Jesper Nielsen explained the functioning of 3F and the corporate identity of a union.
He explained what needs to be considered in developing and increasing capacity.
In this context, Nielsen held workshops with groups formed by our managers and representatives. The groups worked on the SWOT analysis, considering their conditions and the union structure. Each group made a separate presentation.
In this section, Occupational Health and Safety experts Gizem Salman and Hacer Ülkü Açıkel provide data and legal information on general conditions of workplaces in Turkey, working conditions of our line of business and sub-sectors (textile, ready-made clothing and leather), possible risks and hazards, occupational diseases and work accidents. They gave information about the rules and elements that the workplace representatives should pay attention to.
