On the 54th anniversary of the great workers’ resistance of 15-16 June, press statements and commemoration ceremonies are organised in Istanbul and in the provinces where we have Regional Representative Offices with the slogan “In the footsteps of the glorious 15-16 June, to the struggle for Bread, Justice and Freedom”.

\"\"On Thursday 13 June 2024, our General President Arzu \u00c7erkezo\u011flu, General Secretary Tayfun G\u00f6rg\u00fcn, Deputy General President \u00d6zkan Atar and Executive Board member \u015e\u00fckret Sevgener attended the commemoration ceremony in Istanbul Yo\u011furt\u00e7u Park.<\/p>\n

\"\"In addition to the headquarters and branch executives of our unions, a large number of workers, including Mersen workers who are members of Birle\u015fik Metal \u0130\u015f and are on strike for their collective bargaining rights, took part in the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Our 15-16 June commemoration programme in Yo\u011furt\u00e7u Park started with the speech of D\u0130SK General Secretary Tayfun G\u00f6rg\u00fcn. G\u00f6rg\u00fcn greeted the workers who struggled and took to the streets on the anniversary of 15-16 June.Following G\u00f6rg\u00fcn, DISK President Arzu \u00c7erkezo\u011flu made a speech and mentioned the importance of the 15-16 June resistance in the working class struggle. Emphasising that 15-16 June is a light that illuminates our way out of the dark period we are going through, our General President said that 15-16 June is a guiding light in the struggle against policies that suppress wages, impoverish large sections of the people, make workers drink the bitter prescription and make big capital happy.<\/p>\n

After the press statement in Yo\u011furt\u00e7u Park, a march was organised to the spot where three workers were killed 54 years ago during the great workers’ resistance of 15-16 June. After the march, a moment of silence was observed for Ya\u015far Y\u0131ld\u0131r\u0131m, Mustafa Bayram and Mehmet G\u0131dak who lost their lives in the great workers’ resistance and carnations were left at the place where they were killed<\/p>\n
