In line with our 2023 training program funded by the European Union, our first training meeting was held on 10 June 2023 in Mudanya.
The meeting, which was held for our union’s representatives and branch managers in Manisa, Bursa and Tuzla, was also attended by DISK President Dr. Arzu Çerkezoğlu, our General President Kazım Doğan and Tobias Bavnsgaard, representative of Denmark’s 3F federation, our union’s project partner.
Dr. Arzu Çerkezoğlu made the opening speech of the meeting. In her speech, Çerkezoğlu emphasized the importance of the level of organization of workers and the need to further increase the level of organization in the second century of our Republic. Çerkezoğlu pointed out that the working class of Turkey, regardless of their views, trusts DİSK, and therefore the representatives of DİSK members have a great responsibility.
In the first part of the training meeting, which was organized in three parts, social security law expert Fevzi Şen and labor law and audit expert Sinan Özaslan gave a presentation of more than two hours on basic payroll concepts and basic social security concepts. Şen and Özaslan answered our representatives’ questions about examples from their workplaces in detail.
In the second part, Dr. Bülent Aslanhan made a presentation on the concept of occupational disease, the procedures to be taken due to occupational disease, and the things to be considered in terms of OHS. Dr. Aslanhan answered questions after the presentation.
In the last part of the meeting, our union’s experts Gizem Salman and Haluk Deniz Medet gave information on the content and functioning of ILO Convention No. 190 on the Prevention of Violence and Harassment at Workplace, which is included in our collective labor agreements, and especially on the “workplace policy document”.
The second part of the representative training, which is part of the project carried out by our union, DİSK and 3F and supported by the European Union, will be held in Istanbul on June 17, 2023.
